The Manor at Krzykawka

The former Romiszowski manor in Krzykawka near Bolesław is an example of traditional Polish country-house architecture. It changed hands many times; nationalised after 1950 and used as an administrative building, it gradually fell into disrepair. A thorough renovation came only in the 1990s.

What Operates Here

After the restoration the building took in branches of the Cultural Centre and the municipal library of Bolesław, as well as the Centre of Polish Legend. These institutions keep alive the memory of the region's history and run exhibitions, meetings and workshops — papermaking, ceramics and ethnography among them — popular with families.

Buildings and Setting

Besides the manor itself, the farm buildings, garden and orchard have survived; the whole complex is listed as a monument. Krzykawka lies close to the Błędów Desert and Olkusz.
