The Hammond Museum stands on Zamkowa Street in central Kielce and operates within the House of Creative Circles – the Tomasz Zieliński Palace. The exhibition is devoted to Laurens Hammond, designer of the electric organ that bears his name.
The heart of the display is a historic Hammond organ. It is accompanied by a collection of 27 old clocks, a bridge table and a set of musical stairs. The story runs from the inventor's idea to the instrument's worldwide career.
In the 1960s the Hammond organ changed the sound of rock music — it was used by Georgie Fame, Graham Bond, The Nice, Procol Harum, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd, and in Poland by Czesław Niemen and Skaldowie. One of the exhibition rooms is named after Andrzej Zieliński, co-founder of Skaldowie.
