A pavilion in the park at Bukowiec

The Temple of Athena, also called the Tea House, stands in the landscape park surrounding the palace at Bukowiec in the Jelenia Góra district. The Greek-styled pavilion was built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries on the initiative of Count Friedrich von Reden for his wife.

Tea with a view of the Karkonosze

The countess received guests here for tea and conversation, and the building also housed her library. From the terrace opens a panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains with Śnieżka — one of the finest viewpoints in the Jelenia Góra Valley. Tea is still served inside today.

A walk around the park

The temple is only one element of an extensive English-style garden. A walk leads past artificial ruins, a lookout tower and a curious lighthouse. The whole palace and park complex at Bukowiec ranks among the most interesting in the Valley of Palaces and Gardens.
