The palace in Patrykozy was built in the 19th century for Teodor Szydłowski, a general of the army of the Kingdom of Poland, who settled in the village after the November Uprising. The building was designed in the spirit of romantic historicism, with turrets, battlements and decorative detail that contemporaries found as tasteful as it was eccentric.
Over the decades the palace changed hands many times. After the Second World War it was taken over by the State Treasury, and in the 1990s the estate was divided among several owners. The turning point came in 2000, when a private buyer acquired the property and began a thorough renovation, restoring the original appearance of the interiors and facades.
The palace is surrounded by an English-style park with a pond, two bridges and an avenue leading to the residence - the most pleasant part of a visit. The site is open to visitors, but it does not operate as a permanent museum: a date must be arranged in advance with the owner.
