The Mieroszewski Palace was built in the early 18th century at the behest of Kazimierz Mieroszewski, and its form echoes French residences of that era. Over the following centuries it changed hands repeatedly — among its owners were mining and metallurgical companies, and after the war an agricultural cooperative.
Today the building houses the Zagłębie Museum with three permanent exhibitions: period interiors of the 18th and 19th centuries, a reconstructed Zagłębie living room, and the story of the Lusatian settlement and medieval stronghold on the site of present-day Będzin. Temporary shows devoted to the region and local artists complement them.
The palace is surrounded by an 18th-century park with trees more than a hundred years old, pleasant for a walk after the exhibition. The museum also runs lessons and workshops for children, teenagers and adults on the history of Będzin and the Dąbrowa Basin.
