The Neo-Baroque palace on Żeromskiego Street in Sosnowiec was erected at the turn of the 20th century for Heinrich Dietel, a German industrialist who built one of the largest spinning mills in the Dąbrowa Basin. The residence was surrounded by a park with an orangery and elegant garden features.
The Dietel family owned the palace until 1945. The building was then taken over by the NKVD, and for post-war decades it housed a music school. Since 1997 it has belonged to a private owner who renovated the interiors and opened them to visitors.
The greatest impression is made by the preserved decoration of the state rooms — stucco work, joinery, stoves and details dating from the Dietel era. The palace combines museum and commercial functions: conferences, academic symposia, concerts and family celebrations are held here, so it is best to arrange a visit by phone in advance.
