Pasiecznik, Wieś Ubocze
The ruins of the palace in Ubocze lie in a village in the Izera Foothills, in Lwówek County, not far from Gryfów Śląski. The residence was raised in the mid-19th century by rebuilding an older seat that stood on the same spot. The brick-and-stone Neo-Gothic block was given a castle-like look thanks to the crenellation crowning its walls and two towers.
One tower has survived to this day, along with the outline of the walls and architectural details: window arches, portals and fragments of vaulting. For its time the building was modern, with sewerage, running water and electric light in the residential part. It is worth looking up old prints and photographs beforehand, as they make the layout easier to read.
The ruins are abandoned and unmanaged, with no fencing or visitor facilities. The walls crumble in places, so exploring calls for caution and sturdy shoes, especially after rain. Early spring and autumn are the best times to visit, when vegetation does not hide the structure.
