The manor house from Moniaki stands in Janowiec on the Vistula, in Puławy County, right next to the ruins of the local castle. The wooden building was raised between 1760 and 1770 in Moniaki near Urzędów in the Lublin region and was later moved here in its entirety as a monument of timber architecture. Today it belongs to the Vistula Museum, Janowiec Castle branch.
The broken mansard roof covered with wooden shingles and the arcaded porch catch the eye — features typical of gentry seats of the second half of the 18th century. Inside, an exhibition presents the furnishings of a noble manor: furniture, textiles and everyday objects. The display is visited on a joint ticket with the castle.
Janowiec sits on a bluff above the Vistula, opposite Kazimierz Dolny, linked to it by a seasonal ferry. Besides the manor and the castle, the historic church and the viewpoints over the river valley are worth a look.
