A Manor Linked to the Young Chopin

The Chopin Centre in Szafarnia occupies a Neoclassical manor house in a village in Golub-Dobrzyń County, in the Dobrzyń Land. The place commemorates the stays of Fryderyk Chopin, who spent the holidays of 1824 and 1825 here with the Dziewanowski family. It was from Szafarnia that the teenage composer sent his humorous letters known as the „Szafarnia Courier”.

What to See

The interiors hold an exhibition devoted to the composer's life and work and to manor life in the early 19th century. The library displays facsimiles of his scores and a rich collection of books on Chopin. Tours are guided, and the manor is surrounded by a park where concerts are played in summer.

Who It Suits

The centre runs workshops and museum lessons for children and young people and hosts the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth. Because of concerts and events, some rooms may be temporarily excluded from tours.
