Wieś Prosna
The palace ruins in Prosna stand in a small village in Kętrzyn County, on the northern edge of Masuria. The residence was raised in the early 17th century and for the following centuries belonged to the Prussian von Eulenburg family. In the 19th century it was remodelled in the Neo-Gothic spirit, so the mass with its tower resembles a castle rather than a palace.
Wartime destruction and post-war management of the estate by a state farm sealed the fate of the building. The outer walls, brick detailing and empty window openings survive, and the former farm buildings are crumbling beside them. The layout of the old landscape park is still legible around the site.
The ruins are neither secured nor developed for visitors, so exploring is at your own risk and away from walls at risk of collapse. A short stop in Prosna fits easily into a route through northern Masuria, with Kętrzyn, Święta Lipka and Gierłoż nearby.
