Ostrogski Palace stands in Warsaw's Powiśle district on Okólnik Street, at the edge of the Vistula escarpment near Nowy Świat. The Baroque building was rebuilt after wartime destruction and today houses the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, run by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute.
The collection holds over 7,500 items: the composer's music manuscripts and letters, portraits made during his lifetime and personal mementoes. The exhibition occupies four levels, and visitors set their own route, choosing threads from successive stages of the artist's life and work.
The museum runs a rich programme: recitals, lectures with live music, curator-led tours and workshops for children. The building is adapted for wheelchairs and prams. A visit combines easily with a walk through Powiśle, along Nowy Świat and around the University of Warsaw.
