Łazienki Park is the best known park complex in Poland, stretching along Ujazdowskie Avenue right next to the centre of Warsaw. The palace and garden ensemble was created in the 18th century on the initiative of King Stanisław August Poniatowski and has kept its neoclassical character to this day.
The heart of the layout is the Palace on the Isle, surrounded by water and linked to the banks by small bridges. The avenues hide the Amphitheatre, the White House, the Old Orangery and the monument to Frédéric Chopin, where open-air concerts are held in summer. The plantings are gathered in several gardens: royal, romantic, modernist and Chinese.
The park works both as a walk among monuments and as a place to rest, with benches, ponds and peacocks strolling across the lawns. Entry to the grounds is free, while the museum buildings are ticketed separately. Allow at least two hours for an unhurried walk.
