Krupówki, Zakopane
Krupówki Street is the best-known pedestrian street in Zakopane and one of the most recognisable attractions in the Polish mountains. The name comes from the Krupa family, who owned the meadows here. From the late 19th century houses, guesthouses and public buildings began to fill the former clearing.
Along the street stands architecture from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, including buildings in the Zakopane style popularised by Stanisław Witkiewicz. On the way you pass the Holy Family church and the Tatra Museum, while modern buildings have been fitted into the traditional character of the town.
Krupówki is busy all year round: regional restaurants, outdoor equipment shops and stalls with oscypek cheese and souvenirs. The promenade is flat and comfortable with a pram, and the lower station of the Gubałówka funicular is close by.
