Bulwar Piastowski, Szczecin
Piastowski Boulevard, also known as the Sailors' Avenue, runs for more than 900 metres along the Oder in the very centre of Szczecin. It begins near the exit from the Castle Route and ends beyond the Long Bridge, forming a waterfront walkway with views of the river and the port.
Sculptures and mementoes on a maritime theme are placed along the quay: the skeleton of a Slavic boat, a monument to the sailor Ludomir Mączka, a figure of the ship's cat Umbriaga, navigation devices and commemorative plaques. Yachts moor at the quays, and in the evening lamps light the whole route.
A cycle path runs parallel to the pedestrian promenade, so the boulevard also serves runners and cyclists. From here it is a few minutes' walk to the Ducal Castle and the Chrobry Embankment, and cafés and restaurants operate along the waterfront.
