ul. Stanisława Dubois, Kołobrzeg
Złota Uliczka (the Golden Lane), formally Stanisław Dubois Street, is a small urban promenade in the old part of Kołobrzeg, a few steps from the basilica and the town hall. The name refers to the Golden Lane in Prague, with which it is sometimes compared because of the intimate scale of its buildings.
The lane goes back to the medieval layout of the town, but the fighting for Kołobrzeg in 1945 destroyed almost all of its buildings. The surviving remains of a few townhouses gave architects a starting point for reconstruction, which produced a semicircular little square with a frontage styled on the pre-war one.
This is a place for a short break while exploring the old town: the houses hold cafés, patisseries, restaurants and a wine bar, with outdoor seating set up in front. The lane is pedestrianised, so walking here with children or a dog is easy and the surface allows a pushchair through.
