Plac Jakuba Wejhera, Wejherowo
The market square in Wejherowo, named after the town's founder Jakub Wejher, is the central plaza of this Kashubian town. Cultural events, fairs and Christmas markets are held here, and on ordinary days it serves as a meeting place for residents. The square lies along the main promenade, close to the park and to the local calvary.
An imposing monument to Jakub Wejher stands at the centre. The frontages are formed by historic townhouses, among which the town hall with its clock tower, built in the early 20th century, stands out — at 12, 15 and 18 o'clock the Kashubian March sounds from the tower. The oldest building by the square is the Holy Trinity church from the late 17th century.
Restaurants, cafés and patisseries operate around the square, along with souvenir shops and places to stay for those who want to linger. Seeing the square takes half an hour and pairs well with a walk to the Wejherowo Calvary. Entry is free and the square is open all year round.
