Aleja Gwiazd Sportu, Władysławowo
The Sports Walk of Fame in Władysławowo was created in 2000 and is a place devoted entirely to people of sport. It lies in the centre of the seaside town, on the pedestrian route leading towards the beach, so seeing it requires no detour.
Rectangular bronze plaques with a Hollywood-style star are set into the pavement, each bearing the name of an honoured figure. The distinction goes not only to athletes but also to people connected with sport, such as commentators. So far more than 130 personalities of Polish and international sport have received their own star.
New stars are unveiled every year during a ceremony that draws athletes and fans hoping for a photograph or an autograph. Walking the avenue takes a quarter of an hour and combines well with a visit to the beach or the fishing harbour.
