Promenade in Międzyzdroje

The resort's seaside promenade

The promenade in Międzyzdroje runs along the beach of one of Poland's best-known seaside resorts, on the island of Wolin. It is the main axis of tourist life in the town — crowded from morning until late evening in summer, quiet and windswept out of season. The walkway links the area around the pier with the amphitheatre and the neighbouring squares.

Avenue of Stars

Its greatest curiosity is the Avenue of Stars, modelled on the one in Cannes. Since 1996 Międzyzdroje has hosted the Festival of Stars, and the actors and filmmakers who attend leave handprints set into the promenade's paving. New plaques are added every year, so a walk with your eyes down becomes a review of Polish cinema.

The surroundings

Period lamps, benches and flower beds line the walkway, and from its edge the Baltic Sea opens up. Restaurants, cafés and ice-cream stands operate nearby, and the entrance to the pier is a few minutes away. Międzyzdroje is also a natural base for exploring Wolin National Park.
