Plac Wolności, Nisko
Plac Wolności serves as the market square of Nisko, the main public space of this county town on the San river, at the edge of the Sandomierz Forest. The most important institutions are gathered around it: the town hall, the county office, the court and a secondary school. Open-air town events and cultural happenings are held here.
The square adjoins green areas — the Duże Planty park and the Partner Towns Planty, a favourite walking spot for residents. In summer the space turns green, colourful flower beds appear and mature trees provide shade. Three monuments commemorating people and events important to Nisko stand within the square.
This is a short stop on a journey rather than a full-day attraction: walking around the square and the parks takes half an hour. The ground is flat and paved, so prams and wheelchairs manage easily, and dogs are welcome. Watch out for the car traffic running around the square, especially when crossing along the historic tenement houses.
