Rynek Miejski, Koziegłowy
The town market square in Koziegłowy, in the Myszków district on the edge of the Jura and the Silesian Upland, is the main square of a small town and a meeting point for its residents. Its urban and architectural layout has not changed substantially since the town was chartered, which is rare in the region. Until 2006 a market operated here, one of the last held directly on the square.
The 2011 regeneration combined construction work with archaeological research. Remains of the town hall walls were uncovered, their outline marked in the paving, and some fragments were raised above pavement level. Thanks to this, the vanished building can be read while walking across the square.
A fountain with the town's symbols stands at the centre, surrounded by benches and colourful pergolas that provide shade. The square is a good starting point for exploring Koziegłowy, including the Gothic parish church nearby.
