plac Bolesława Chrobrego, Kłodzko
The market square in Kłodzko, officially Bolesław Chrobry Square, is the heart of the old town spread over a hill above the Nysa Kłodzka river. Richly decorated buildings and the marked slope of the square create one of the most distinctive views in the Kłodzko Valley. It is also the natural starting point for exploring the town.
The most important building is the town hall, which once also served commercial functions and today houses the municipal authorities. The details of the façade are worth a closer look, including the sculpted lion supporting the town clock. Opposite the main entrance stands an ornamental fountain with a crowned Bohemian lion held up by dolphins.
The frontages are lined with restored burgher houses that once belonged to Kłodzko craftsmen. From the square it is a few minutes' walk to the Gothic bridge over the Młynówka, the entrance to the Underground Tourist Route and to Kłodzko Fortress.
