A square with a medieval layout

The market square in Wągrowiec has kept its medieval layout and still serves as the town's main public space. It is surrounded by restored townhouses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The former town hall burned down in the 18th century and was never rebuilt, so the centre of the square remained open.

The multimedia fountain

The middle of the square is taken up by a multimedia fountain with evening light shows. They run all year round, which makes it stand out among similar installations in Poland. Also worth noticing are the sundial and the compass rose set into the paving.

Good to know

As the town's main square it hosts municipal events and cultural programmes, especially in summer. Cafés in the townhouses offer a place to rest after sightseeing. The area is flat and paved, accessible for pushchairs, and entry remains free.
