The main square of Gryfice

The town market square in Gryfice, officially named Plac Zwycięstwa, is the central and most representative space of this West Pomeranian town on the Rega river. It has long served as a meeting place for residents and a natural starting point for a walk around the old town.

What to see

The square was refurbished in 2010, gaining a new surface, a fountain and street furniture. Townhouses line three of its sides, while the fourth is filled by post-war blocks that clearly break the character of the whole. Parking spaces have been laid out around the square, so it is worth watching for traffic while walking here.

The surroundings

Gryfice has preserved fragments of its medieval defensive walls with gates and towers, and a narrow-gauge railway museum operates nearby. Town events and concerts are held on and around the square, and the Rega river and the coast are within easy reach.
