Juliusza Słowackiego, Bydgoszcz
The AquaNutka multimedia fountain operates in the music district of Bydgoszcz, at the foot of the Pomeranian Philharmonic on Juliusza Słowackiego Street. The installation was funded by the municipal waterworks, and its core is a set of several dozen illuminated nozzles that shape the water into moving curtains, geysers and projection screens in time with the music. The water circulates in a closed loop, so the shows waste no resources.
The programme combines image, sound and light. The repertoire includes sequences set to classical music as well as to Polish and international hits. Performances take place in the evenings from spring to autumn — more often during the summer holidays than in the shoulder months. The current schedule is published by the operator and is worth checking before a visit.
The fountain stands in a park setting, a walk of about fifteen minutes from Mill Island and the Old Market Square. It makes a good way to end a day of sightseeing in Bydgoszcz, especially with children.
