Św. Lipka 29, Wieś Święta Lipka
The Marian Sanctuary in Święta Lipka, called the Częstochowa of the North, lies on the border of Warmia and Masuria, about 70 km from Olsztyn. Pilgrimages here date back to the Middle Ages, and in 1983 the church received the title of a minor basilica.
The monastery complex counts among the most valuable late baroque monuments in Poland. The interior is filled with frescoes, sculptures and rich woodcarving, and the main altar holds the image of Our Lady of Święta Lipka. The church owes its fame above all to the organ of 1721 with moving figures — during presentations of the instrument visitors can also look at its mechanism from the inside.
The church is enclosed by cloisters with corner chapels, and around it opens the Warmian landscape of fields and lakes. Nearby stand rosary stations with baroque shrines, and Kętrzyn, Reszel and the Masurian lake trail are all within easy reach.
