The Water Tower in Giżycko is a former waterworks building of red brick standing on Warszawska Street near the centre. After renovation it took on a new role and now holds a viewing terrace, a small museum and a café. For visitors to the Great Masurian Lakes it makes a convenient starting point for a walk around town.
A terrace occupies the top floor, offering a panorama of Giżycko, the surrounding forests and the sheets of the Masurian lakes. One level below there is a café known for the smell of freshly brewed coffee and home baking. A lift runs up to the terrace, which makes the climb easier for less mobile visitors.
The intermediate levels hold a modest exhibition of documents, photographs and objects linked to the history of Giżycko and its surroundings. On the ground floor a souvenir shop sells, among other things, a certificate of having conquered the tower. The building opens in the summer season.
