The Fish Gate, also known as the Gate of the Third Millennium, stands on the Lednica Fields near Skrzetuszewo in Greater Poland, close to Lake Lednica. The steel structure is shaped like a fish — a reference to the Greek word „ichthys”, an early Christian symbol of Christ. It was built on the initiative of the Dominican friar Jan Góra.
The gate marks the beginning of the Way of the Third Millennium and is the focal point of the national Youth Meetings, which gather thousands of participants here. Passing under the arch is understood as a gesture of choosing the path of faith. In 2016, during the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Primate of Poland declared it a Gate of Mercy.
The Lednica Fields adjoin the Greater Poland Ethnographic Park and the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica, where the relics of a stronghold and a palatium survive on Ostrów Lednicki. The site is open and flat, with wide meadows by the lake — easy to visit with children as well.
