Fojutowo, Wieś Legbąd
The Fojutowo Aqueduct is a monument of hydraulic engineering in the Tuchola Forest, within the village of Legbąd in Tuchola county. The structure separates two watercourses that cross here at different levels: the Czerska Struga stream runs below through a tunnel, while the Great Brda Canal passes overhead. About 75 metres long, it is regarded as the largest structure of its kind in Poland.
A visit comes down to seeing the structure from both levels: walking the tunnel alongside the Czerska Struga and then strolling above along the canal bank. From there you can see exactly how the crossing of the waters was solved and how the whole arrangement works. It is one of three similar structures spaced along the Great Brda Canal, and by far the most impressive of them.
Fojutowo lies in the middle of the Tuchola Forest, beside walking and cycling trails and close to paddling stretches of the Brda. The ground around the aqueduct is laid out for visitors, and access is easy, including with a pushchair or a dog.
