The Świętokrzyski Bridge links Warsaw's Śródmieście district with Praga-Północ and was the first cable-stayed crossing built over the Vistula. Its distinctive pylon with a fan of steel stays has become one of the recognisable features of the city panorama. Together with the adjoining viaduct the structure measures close to 480 metres.
The bridge carries two lanes of traffic in each direction, with separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists outside the roadway. Thanks to gentle approaches and wide pavements it is considered the most convenient cycling crossing in central Warsaw. It forms part of the routes connecting the Vistula boulevards with the Praga bank.
From the span you can see the outline of the Old Town, the Royal Castle and the high-rises of the city centre, and to the east the wild, wooded Praga bank. On the western side the bridge leads straight onto the boulevards with the Copernicus Science Centre and the piers over the water, on the eastern side onto riverside paths towards the Praga Port.
