Wieś Leśno
The stone circles in Leśno are an archaeological site in Kashubia, in the Brusy commune, set among the forests of the Zabory Landscape Park. The area covers an extensive burial ground used for several centuries by different communities.
Thirteen barrows and fifteen stone circles linked with settlers arriving from Scandinavia have been identified here, as well as cist, pit and urn graves of the Pomeranian culture, including face urns. Among the rare finds is the relic of a so-called long house. The circles are believed to have served as a place of tribal assemblies and rites.
An educational trail with boards explaining the successive features runs through the burial ground, and walking it takes about an hour. The terrain is forested and unpaved, so comfortable footwear is useful. The site combines well with a trip around the Brusy area.
