A manor house in Stary Wiśnicz

Koryznówka is a nineteenth-century wooden manor in Stary Wiśnicz, close to the castle of the Kmita and Lubomirski families. It belonged to the Serafiński family, friends of Jan Matejko, and has survived almost unchanged. Since 1981 it has housed a museum of the painter's memorabilia, a branch of the District Museum in Tarnów.

Matejko in Wiśnicz

The painter was a regular guest here — it was in Wiśnicz that he spent his engagement to Teodora, the sister of the lady of the house. Many drawings of local architecture and caricatures were created here, the lesser known, private side of his work. The collection consists of family keepsakes, documents and works on paper.
