ul. Polna 30, Wieś Niechorze
The Niechorze lighthouse stands on a high cliff above the Baltic Sea and is the tallest structure in the village. Work on the 45-metre brick tower began in 1866; its facing brick and octagonal shaft are a landmark of the Rewal coast. The light carries 20 nautical miles, that is around 37 kilometres.
More than two hundred steps lead up to the viewing gallery. From the top a panorama opens over the coastline, the beach and the roofs of Niechorze, and in good weather a long stretch of cliff towards Rewal and Pobierowo is visible. Parts of the historic equipment survive inside — at first the light was fuelled with rapeseed oil, burned in large quantities.
The lighthouse is a few minutes' walk from the beach and the promenade, close to Liwia Łuża lake, a reserve for water birds. A footpath runs along the edge of the cliff with views of the sea. The tower is open to visitors mainly in season, and in strong wind access to the gallery may be closed.
