30a, Wieś Górzykowo
The parrot breeding farm in Górzykowo is an intimate spot a dozen or so kilometres from Zielona Góra, in an area known for its vineyards. The aviary grew out of the owner's passion and is not a commercial parrot house but a private breeding farm opened to visitors by prior arrangement.
Seventeen aviaries stand on the hill, home to several parrot species including macaws, rosellas, amazons, greys and softbills. The aviaries adjoin a large garden kept in a naturalistic way that also attracts wild birds, so a visit combines watching parrots with a quiet walk.
June and July are the best months, when chicks and young birds appear in the aviaries - this is when the visit makes the strongest impression on children. The place is quiet and free of commercial trappings, so your arrival has to be announced by phone in advance.
