Gorzów Wielkopolski
Gorzowskie Murawy is a nature reserve on the outskirts of Gorzów Wielkopolski, on slopes and inland dunes near the Warta valley. It protects xerothermic vegetation together with lichen and fresh pine forests. It ranks among the more valuable grassland complexes in western Poland.
The most valuable community is the feather-grass sward with hair grass, bristle fescue and Boehmer's timothy. They are accompanied by warmth-loving broadleaf species: meadow sage, sand cinquefoil and Pannonian yarrow. Brome and grey hair-grass swards also occur, along with protected plants such as St. Bernard's lily, sand pink and immortelle.
A walking and cycling path runs through the area; leaving it damages the fragile turf of the grasslands. Late spring and summer are the most rewarding times, when the swards are in flower. Being so close to the city, the reserve is easy to reach for a short walk.
