Wieś Łagów
The „Nad Jeziorem Trześniowskim” reserve protects the forest covering the steep slopes that drop towards one of the deepest lakes in the Lubusz region. It lies right next to Łagów, within the Łagów-Sulęcin Landscape Park. Pomeranian-type beeches dominate the stand, accompanied by pines, oaks, birches and spruces, and the ground is varied by hillocks that turn into steep slopes in places.
The undergrowth is diverse: wood sorrel, wood violet, woodrush, haircap moss, sheep's fescue, blackberries and cranesbills. Birds are the greatest asset — stock dove, green and black woodpecker, golden oriole, hawfinch and kingfisher, while the water and reedbeds hold great crested grebe, goldeneye, coot, mallard and mute swan. Mammals include shrews, roe deer, red deer, wild boar, foxes and hares.
The „Sokola Góra” nature and history trail runs through the reserve — the most convenient way to explore, as the route avoids the most sensitive spots. Some climbs are steep, so sturdy shoes come in handy. The walk is easy to combine with a visit to Łagów itself, picturesquely squeezed between two lakes.
