ul. Moniuszki, Świebodzice
The common yew known as „Bolko” grows above the Pełcznica river in Świebodzice, inside the „Przełomy pod Książem” reserve, part of the Książ Landscape Park. The tree holds the status of a natural monument.
Its trunk measures around 285 cm in girth and its age is estimated at 400 to 600 years, which probably makes Bolko the oldest yew in the Sudetes. Information boards next to the tree describe the species and the history of its protection.
The tree is reached from Moniuszki Street along the red „Hochberg Trail”, which follows the river gorge. A nature trail around the Książ castle area starts beside the yew, so the visit combines easily with a tour of the castle and its park.
