A monumental oak in the heart of Masuria

The Krutyń Oak grows in the Masurian Landscape Park, inside the „Zakręt” reserve close to the village of Krutyń. This pedunculate oak is protected as a natural monument and, at over 370 years old, is one of the oldest trees in the whole park.

Good to know

The trunk girth reaches 530 cm and the tree stands up to 30 metres tall. It grows right beside the road running from Krutyń towards Lake Mokre, so the approach is short and easy, also for less experienced walkers.

The surroundings

The oak stands on the Krutyń–Zgon educational trail, which leads through the finest corners of the park: lakes, pine woods and forest clearings. Krutyń itself has a nature and culture education centre, and the Krutynia river, popular with canoeists, flows through the village.
