Wieś Budziejewko
St. Adalbert's Stone lies in Budziejewko in the Wągrowiec district, right beside the church. It is an erratic block of red granite carried here by the ice sheet. It measures about 20.5 metres in circumference, 7.5 metres in length and 4.7 metres in width, with only part of the mass rising above the ground. Its surface is covered with lichens.
In 1840 local residents applied to have the boulder entered in the land register at the court in Wągrowiec in order to protect it from being broken up. As a result it is regarded as the oldest legally protected natural feature in Greater Poland. In size it is second in the region only to St. Hedwig's boulder in Gołuchów.
Folklore links the stone with St. Adalbert, who is said to have preached here and left the imprint of his feet in the rock. A healing spring was supposed to flow from the boulder, losing its power when a local sceptic treated it with contempt. A short paved path leads to the stone, so a visit takes only a few moments.
