Wieś Postolin
Wzgórze Joanny Nature Reserve is a small protected area by the village of Postolin in the Milicz district. It was established to preserve a stand of beech reaching the natural limit of its range here, and to protect prehistoric finds. The reserve covers part of a larger complex of beech forest in the Barycz Valley.
The area lies in the north-western part of the Twardogóra Hills, also known as the Krośnice Hills, which belong to the Trzebnica Ridge. The protected ground occupies a summit 230 metres high, called Wieżyca or Joanna's Hill. On the top stands a former hunting lodge, also referred to as the Odyniec Tower.
It is a destination for birdwatchers and walkers. The old stand is home to the middle spotted, grey-headed and black woodpeckers, as well as the stock dove and the red-breasted flycatcher. Two marked hiking trails run through the reserve, so a visit amounts to an unhurried walk along a forest path.
