Wieś Wręczyca Mała
Zamczysko is a small nature reserve in the Wręczyca Wielka commune, Kłobuck County, on the right bank of the floodplain terrace of the Czarna Oksza river. It protects an oak stand more than two hundred years old, growing on a gentle rise above the valley. The site can be walked around at an easy pace, and the dense, shaded forest makes an impression from the first steps.
At the heart of the reserve lies an early medieval hillfort, now completely overgrown; its ramparts and the hollow of the former bailey remain clearly readable in the terrain. Around it grow 118 pedunculate oaks protected as natural monuments, the thickest with trunk girths exceeding 360 cm. The undergrowth holds more than 160 plant species, among them martagon lily, houseleek and drooping star of Bethlehem.
A place for anyone who likes to combine a short forest walk with a little archaeology and botany. The paths are flat and easy, so children manage well. The reserve stays accessible all year, though the terrace can be boggy after rain.
