Wieś Bachórzec
Broduszurki Nature Reserve lies in the Dubiecko commune, Przemyśl district, near the village of Bachórzec. It protects a raised bog complex rare in this part of the country, a remnant of a much larger peatland that once filled a basin in the San valley. In the surviving part the peat deposits reach as deep as seven metres.
Peat was extracted here for years, and traces of that work are still visible as overgrowing pits. Nature is reclaiming the ground, creating a mosaic of forest, meadow, aquatic and bog habitats. Among the plants growing here is bogbean, while marsh Labrador tea fills the air with its distinctive resinous scent.
The reserve is made accessible by the educational path "Three Paths of Identity: environment, history, culture", which explains both the natural setting and the past human use of the area. Spring is the most rewarding time, when the bog plants are in full bloom. The ground can be boggy, so suitable footwear is advisable.
