Wieś Dobrzeszów
Góra Dobrzeszowska (367 m above sea level) rises over the village of Dobrzeszów in Kielce County, in the western part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Its wooded summit forms a partial nature reserve protecting both the old stand of trees and one of the most interesting archaeological sites in the region. The hill was once known as Langiewicz Hill.
Three concentric ramparts of stone blocks survive on the top, enclosing a small inner area with a central boulder and a so-called sacrificial stone. Researchers link the complex with a pre-Christian place of worship and point to possible sky-watching functions. Despite the dense forest, the layout of the ramparts is easy to follow on the ground.
The slopes carry silver fir, Scots pine, larch, beech and pedunculate oak aged 70 to 120 years, with single specimens over 140 years old. In these woods, in September 1944, the battle of Gruszka was fought, one of the largest partisan engagements in the Kielce region. The blue Kuźniaki–Pogorzałe trail leads to the summit.
