Bukowa Góra Nature Reserve protects a fragment of natural broadleaf forest covering the hill of the same name, also called Buczyna, whose summit reaches 334 m above sea level. The area lies in the Przedbórz–Małogoszcz Range and forms part of the Przedbórz Landscape Park.
The stand consists almost entirely of beech, which accounts for around 98 percent of the trees. Several beech forest types have developed on the slopes: poor and fertile lowland beechwood, Sudetic beechwood and the rare thermophilous orchid beechwood. In spring, light-loving species flower before the leaves unfold.
Within the reserve stands a disused shaft dug in the second half of the 18th century during a search for salt. Two marked trails cross the area, and its natural values have been included in the Świętokrzyskie Archaeo-Geological Trail. The paths are steep and muddy in places.
