Wieś Wola Chorzelowska
The Buczyna w Cyrance reserve lies near Wola Chorzelowska in the Mielec district, Podkarpackie Province. It protects a transitional woodland in which a poor form of Carpathian beech forest merges with an oak-hornbeam stand. This is one of the most valuable natural corners of the vast Puszcza Sandomierska.
More than 60 species of vascular plants have been recorded here, among them the protected European bladdernut, narrow-leaved helleborine, greater butterfly-orchid and wild garlic. In spring the forest floor turns into a dense carpet of flowers, while in summer the massive trunks of old beeches draw the eye.
An educational trail called „Poznaj Las” (Discover the Forest) runs through the reserve, with boards explaining the structure of the stand. The area is also crossed by the green General Władysław Sikorski Trail on the Tuszów PKP – Wola Cicha section. An unhurried walk takes about two hours and requires no particular fitness.
