Wieś Krępkowice
The Świętopełk Oak grows at the edge of a pine stand near the village of Krępkowice in Kashubia. It is a pedunculate oak protected as a natural monument, and its name refers to Świętopełk II, Duke of Pomerania.
The tree stands about 22 metres tall and its trunk measures 770 cm in girth; its age is estimated at close to 640 years. Fungi have decayed the inside of the trunk, traces of a lightning strike are visible, and in 2005 a gale broke the four thickest lower boughs. The upper and middle parts of the crown remain in good shape.
An educational nature trail leads to the tree. The surroundings are kept tidy and the oak itself is fenced, which protects its root system from being trampled. The walk takes about a quarter of an hour and needs no preparation.
