Wieś Kopysno
The Kopystanka reserve covers the crest of Mount Kopystanka (540.6 m above sea level) and part of the forest on its southern slope, near the village of Kopysno in the Przemyśl district. It lies within the Przemyśl Foothills Landscape Park, and the summit itself ranks among the highest elevations of this region.
Sixteen mammal species have been confirmed here, including badger, pine marten, stoat and edible dormouse, while lynx and wolves appear occasionally. During the breeding season 53 bird species were recorded, among them the lesser spotted eagle, Ural owl and grey-headed woodpecker, and among amphibians the Carpathian newt and fire salamander.
The slopes expose interesting rock profiles — most notably a gully cut into Upper Cretaceous flysch with layers of rare radiolarites, sediments of deep-sea origin. The ascent leads across meadows and through forest, and the open sections offer views over the surrounding foothills.
