Wieś Czułów
The Zimny Dół reserve covers the right slope of the upper part of the valley of the same name, at Czułów in the commune of Liszki near Cracow. It is one of the smallest reserves of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and at the same time one of the most striking: within a short stretch it holds the whole set of rock forms that limestone produces under karst processes.
The slope of the ravine is filled with huge limestone blocks with steep walls, separated by fissures that arrange themselves into rocky labyrinths. Alongside them are overhangs and rock mushrooms, forms undercut at the base. A curiosity here are the very old, flowering specimens of common ivy climbing the rocks and tree trunks — ivy blooms only after many years of growth.
An educational trail leads through the most interesting part of the reserve, reaching the main rock groups in turn. The floor of the ravine stays damp and cool even in summer, which is where the name comes from. More than twenty protected plant species grow here, so it is worth keeping to the marked route.
