Wieś Zagórze Śląskie
The Góra Choina reserve covers the south-eastern slopes of the Choina hill (450 m above sea level) in the Wałbrzych Mountains, above the village of Zagórze Śląskie in the Wałbrzych district. This small area forms part of the Natura 2000 site Ostoja Nietoperzy Gór Sowich and of the Protected Landscape Area of the Bardzkie and Sowie Mountains.
Within the reserve stands the medieval Piast castle of Grodno, one of the more recognisable strongholds of Lower Silesia. From the slope and from around the castle a view opens over the Bystrzyca valley and the lake dammed at Lubachów.
Protection covers an old-growth stand of oak, lime and beech together with a rich forest floor, home to nettle-leaved bellflower, Solomon's seal, foxglove and numerous ferns. Trails crossing the reserve include the red route Grodno Castle – Lubachów, the yellow route Grodno Castle – Waga and the green Trail of the Piast Castles.
