Wieś Krynki
The Skały w Krynkach Reserve lies in the village of Krynki in Starachowice County, in the northern part of the Holy Cross Mountains. It protects a group of natural outcrops of Lower Triassic conglomeratic sandstone together with the surrounding woodland. The rocks rise on a forested slope and form one of the more interesting rock complexes in the region.
Weathering has carved pulpits, ledges, vertical walls, rock mushrooms and loose blocks out of the sandstone — this micro-relief is what the reserve protects. Among the rocks hide five small pseudokarst caves: Płaska Jama I, II and III, Grota Skrzatów and the longest, the Cave of St Barbara.
Marked hiking trails run through the reserve and its surroundings, linking the rocks with the neighbouring forest complexes of the Kamienna valley. The terrain is hilly and stony in places, so sturdy footwear helps. A visit including the approach from the village takes about three hours.
