Wieś Brzezinka (gmina Andrychów)
Madahora is a forest nature reserve in the Beskid Mały range, covering the summit area and slopes of Łamana Skała above Brzezinka in the Andrychów commune. It protects ancient spruces, mature beeches and several rock outcrops scattered among the trees. It lies in one of the more secluded corners of this mountain group.
Near the summit, sandstones and conglomerates of the Lower Istebna beds are exposed, forming walls more than a dozen metres high; lower down, Godula sandstones dominate the bedrock. A curiosity is a patch of upper-montane spruce forest, typical of far higher mountains. It grows here thanks to the acidic soil, which limits competition from other tree species.
Marked hiking trails lead to the reserve from the villages at the foot of the ridge. The climb is steep and calls for sturdy boots, but it rewards you with a view of one of the most scenic parts of the Beskid Mały. Allow about three hours for the full walk up and back.
